A: Kill a 16V-71. Twice.
I don’t usually laugh to YouTube videos, but this one had me giggling stupidly.

I didn’t watch the video, because firewall and I don’t feel like changing my IP address. Again. But, all I saw was 8V-71. My dad actually stuffed one of those into an old antique firetruck because he is a madman.

Madman? More like super
genius.

I forwarded this reply to him, he said thank you! Haha. That thing will do 90 mph easily on the highway. People often ask him what kind of fuel mileage he gets. He says “6.” People say “Highway or city?” He says “6. Both. Uphill, down hill with a tail wind. Doesn’t matter” haha

Haha! That’s awesome. If he’s getting that much
consistency then he’s got it tuned properly.

Pretty sure it’s tuned for as much fire breathing hell it can stand. Lol. It’s been all over the country. The engine came out of an old over the road truck from the way back. I can’t remember the donor vehicle.

Yeah, so we need an Oppo review of your dad's truck ASAP

I did an internship at an oil refinery in the marine division and we used utility boats with Detroits - with either twin 671s or twin 8V71s . They were used to run between shore and platforms about a mile off shore. They were straight piped out above the water line and they ran those things hard, pretty much always at full throttle. I miss that sound.

Now that I’ve watched the video, I’ve actually seen a 671 with a hole in the block. We were heading out one day and one of the engines suddenly dies. We head back to shore on one engine and go below to check it out. We saw oil on the floor and t hat’s when my coworker and I discovered we could see each other through the block, lol.
No biggie. We had a shop and mechanic that was really good at rebuilding them and always had a spare engine ready to swap in. Had to buy a new block for that one.

I’m not much of a reviewer. I’ve tried to get Torch to snag it on his Jason Drives thing. I’ll see what I can do on my end. It’s a hell of a rig and throws a shit ton of water when called upon!
